Why Arrows…

Psalms 127:3-5

“Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.

Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,
So are the children of one’s youth.

Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them;
They shall not be ashamed,
But shall speak with their enemies in the gate.”

I love how children are described as arrows in the hands of a warrior in this Psalm. Arrows must be sharp and straight, polished and aimed at a specific target. We, as believers, are called to be warriors for God, standing in truth and following His ways. What better way to stand for Him than to teach our children, our arrows, to walk straight and follow His commandments and His laws. We must train them up aimed at His glory and for His kingdom, polished and pure with careful instruction! Quivers can be different sizes, perfectly willed by God. For some it can be full with 1 child, for others it can be full with 2 or 4. We have been blessed to have a quiver of 10 arrows. I think it means trusting what God has in store for you, and trusting that He’ll meet you through every journey. It hasn’t been easy and there have been times I wondered if I was enough to raise these arrows, through it all, God was enough and filled the gaps for me. What an adventure it is raising these arrows. I cherish every moment of this #beautifulchaos and look forward to all that is in store for us as a family.
